Finding the Perfect Gift

Philippians 2:13,15,17 (NLT) God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy.

As I drove a carload of high school students to a service project, we discussed Christmas gift giving. I intentionally avoided any talk about what they hoped to receive. The question:

For whom have your found the perfect gift? You know - the gift you know the recipient will absolutely love!

Isn’t the perfect idea exciting? Perhaps you found a unique way to celebrate a friend’s hobby or to capture a special memory. Maybe you’ll bake a favorite treat or offer the gift of your time. Whatever the selection, it perfectly reflects the recipient’s spirit and your relationship.

What would be the perfect gift for God this Christmas? What would He love to receive?

Slow down and think about it. What does God want for Christmas? How do you express the depth of your relationship and the magnitude of His love? Like the Little Drummer Boy, do we have anything worth offering our King?

Yes we do! God simply wants you. Your presence. Your praise and love. Your life.

The only thing you and I have to give God is our life. Pour out your life for Him! Let His love shine brightly through you! And experience the joy of giving like never before.
