A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1925 the large elm tree on North Street, opposite the Daniel D. Curtis Mansion, owned by Frank McCarthy (site of 50 North Street/corner of North and Frairy Streets), was cut down by workers under the direction of tree warden George L.L. Allen. The tree was over 250 years old, and near the center of it a hand forged nail was found. One part of the tree measured 9 feet in diameter. North Street at the time was lined by these beautiful ancient trees."
