The Gazebo Players Present A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Gazebo Players are celebrating their 20th anniversary with performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream this July and August in Medfield, Sherborn, and Walpole. All performances are free to the public! Bring a blanket or lawn chair, bring family and friends, and enjoy this classic comedy that’s fun for all ages!

The Gazebo Players of Medfield was founded as a way for theater lovers in and near Medfield to share their love of Shakespeare with the people of the wider community. Their first production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, was performed in Gazebo Park in Medfield in the summer of 2002. Since that first show, the Gazebo Players has presented a different Shakespeare play every summer—with the exception of 2020, when the pandemic made group gatherings too dangerous, and 2021, when the players put on Shakespeare in Shorts, a collection of scenes spaced out around a park so that audiences could enjoy the show while staying spaced apart for safety. Over the years, the Gazebo Players expanded their performances to include other towns in the surrounding areas, bringing the show to a different town each weekend of the play’s run. Through the years, every show has always been entirely free and open to audiences of all ages.

This summer, to celebrate their 20th anniversary, the Gazebo Players are repeating one of Shakespeare’s plays for the first time, performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the same play that started it all! This will be an all-new production directed by Walpole resident Marianne Phinney, who also directed the Gazebo Players’ first production in 2002. The play features actors from Medfield, Sharon, Canton, Holliston, Medway, Cambridge, and Boston. As always, everyone of all ages is invited to see the show, outdoors in beautiful settings, completely free of charge.

All performances are FREE and begin at 5 PM, rain or shine! The dates and locations will be:
