The Gift of Reading...

A brand new initiative has been announced and it was shared with the Medfield community by the local Lotsa Helping Hands organizers, Laurie, Kathleen and Katie.

The Gift of Reading, created by Medfield resident and educator Kara Gelormini with support from Kathy McDonald, Director of Medfield Outreach and Teresa James of Park Street Books.

The Gift of Reading aims to put independent, choice reading books into the homes of Medfield families experiencing financial hardship in an attempt to address the opportunity gap that often affects children's academic achievement in schools.

For this September, the goal is to put 100 $20 Park Street Gift Certificates (Book Bucks - for book purchases only) in 100 Back to School backpacks proved by Medfield Outreach.

If you would like to help, please consider purchasing a $20 Park Street Book gift certificate and place it in the cooler outside the home of either Laurie Nealon (7 Copperwood) or Kathleen Cahill (7 Penobscot) on Thursday, August 27th between 8am-8pm.
