Women's Health Initiative
This Friday, June 16, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:30, my wife, Dr. Rebecca Stephenson (director of women's physical therapy at the Brigham), will host an information session and fund-raiser at First Parish for the Global Women's Health Initiative, which was created to engage physical therapists and other healthcare providers interested in the care of women in under-served communities, both local and global.
Among other conditions they're addressing are Pelvic Floor Trauma, Prolapse, Genital Mutilation, Osteoporosis, and Breast Health, particularly as they affect some of the poorest women abroad and at home. Rebecca went to Ethiopia earlier this year to educate physical therapy students on these issues.
