Goodwill’s New Look in Medfield

Town gets new donation bin - just in time for spring cleaning

BOSTON (March 17, 2017) – Residents of Medfield, Wayland, and Westborough will have an easier time locating the Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries’ donation bins when they go to drop off donations at their community’s recycling center this spring.

That’s because Goodwill has installed new, well-marked bins in these three communities this month.

“With residents starting to do a little spring cleaning, we hope these new bins will create a better donation experience,” said Jason Marshall, vice president of retail for Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. “In 2016, residents from these towns donated nearly 800,000 pounds of donations to Goodwill and we hope local residents will be encouraged to donate even more in 2017 with the new bins in place.”

The bins feature technology that will electronically notify Goodwill when they are full and need to be picked up so that donations do not overflow. The bins include Goodwill’s logo and web address along with the phrase ‘donate here.’ Last year, Goodwill installed eight new donation bins on Cape Cod and the South Shore.

Goodwill collects more than 29 million pounds in donations every year in eastern and central Massachusetts. These donations are sold at a low cost in Goodwill stores. Goodwill’s retail enterprise supports Goodwill’s mission, which is to help individuals with barriers to self-sufficiency to achieve independence and dignity through work. Goodwill serves nearly 8,000 people a year, providing job training, career services, and youth programs.
