Hinkley Helpers Awarded Largest Grant in Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund History

Hinkley Helpers received a $12,000 grant from The Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund, the largest in the fund’s history, alongside grantees MedfieldTV, Kingsbury Pond Gristmill Committee, and the Zullo Gallery Center for the Arts. With this grant, Hinkley Helpers has reached and exceeded its $500,000 goal, and still needs to fundraise about $25,000 to account for increased costs since launching one year ago. Together with the Department of Parks & Recreation, Hinkley Helpers aims to identify a final vendor and playground design in the coming weeks, allowing them to break ground at best in the fall of 2023, if not the spring of 2024, due to weather conditions.

Overheard on the Playground from Medfield’s Community-Building Groups
“Hinkley Helpers has led an incredible planning, advocacy, and fundraising campaign to update and transform the Hinkley Playground, an important gathering place for Medfield children and their families for more than 25 years”, said Todd Trehubenko, Co-Chair of the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund. “We are thrilled to support these efforts and a project that has so strongly resonated with our donors and throughout our entire community.”

“It's unbelievable to see the community unite and raise significant funds to support and celebrate Medfield’s hidden gem, Stephen Hinkley Memorial Park. Between the upgrades to the playground and the pond, this park will be a beautiful destination for the community and a special place to bring people of all ages and abilities together. The Parks and Recreation Department appreciates the Town of Medfield and its residents’ support for moving this project forward so quickly. And, we can’t wait to host new events and programs at the new playground!”

“The Medfield Foundation has done so much to support community-building initiatives in our town. We plan to acknowledge at the playground that MFi has been a cornerstone of this project, and because of this generous grant from the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund, are able to start planning for a new playground in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department. Get your shovels ready! We hope to break ground this year!” said Adrienne Mandigo, Ashley Leduc and Kelly Fallon, Co-Chairs of the Hinkley Helpers.
