Hinkley Helpers Launches “Playground Pals” and “Founding Families” to Benefit Signature Playground in Medfield

Hinkley Helpers, an initiative of The Medfield Foundation, Inc., has announced its first significant fundraising goal: to raise $150,000 from the Medfield community. To launch the campaign, the organization has launched new “Playground Pals” and “Founding Families” initiatives and secured a momentous $20,000 matching donation from the Freedman and the Monahan families of The Blue Moon Bagel Cafe.

“Growing up in Medfield, my family and I have spent countless days at the playground and swimming pond at Hinkley Park. Now, as a parent and small business owner in Medfield, it’s an honor to be able to give back to the community and rebuild a modern playground for all families to enjoy for decades to come,” said Alex Monahan, co-owner of The Blue Moon Bagel Cafe.
Impact the Medfield Community by Joining “Playground Pals” or “Founding Families”
Contributions of any amount coupled with the generous matching donation from The Blue Moon Bagel Cafe will help support Hinkley Helpers’ mission of fundraising, planning and building a fun, safe and inclusive playground at the Stephen M. Hinkley Memorial park.

By joining the Playground Pals ($500) or Founding Families ($1,000), community members will accelerate the revitalization of Medfield and a new community destination. For example, should 1% of Medfield residents or 150 people join Playground Pals, a new toddler playscape can be funded, and when the same join Founding Families, a new universally accessible groundcover can be laid for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

The Rose Family, supporters of the playground, stated: “As frequent visitors of the playground, we know firsthand how ready it is for a makeover and have been waiting for an opportunity to help. We are excited that these sponsorship levels have the potential to accelerate fundraising and are even more excited that Blue Moon’s generous match will boost our contribution.”

The benefits of joining the Playground Pals and Founding Families include acknowledging the groups on a permanent commemorative plaque at the new playground. Founding Families will be invited to attend an exclusive sneak peek of the new playground before it opens to the public and have the option to secure specially designated pavers when purchased later in the fundraising campaign. Hinkley Helpers has also committed to retaining the pavers from when the playground was built more than twenty-five years ago.
