The History of Medfield Holiday Lighting

M.E.M.O is excited & proud to announce their Annual Holiday Events schedule. Let the Caroling begin!!

Baxter Park Tree Lighting, "It all started with one little tree…"

MEMO member, Lucille Fisher stated, "While I was not able to uncover the exact date of the first official Tree Lighting Ceremony at Baxter Park; I did learn that the event began many, many years ago… Legend has it that M.E.M.O. Members started this beloved annual event by decorating one small tree in Baxter Park. As the tree grew so did the event. Each year M.EM.O. acquired additional strings of lights and decorated more & more trees. Now the seasonal display of lights can be seen not only at Baxter Park but, in front of Town Hall and beyond.

Fun fact, did you know that M.E.M.O. is the only business organization it the area that pays for the Town’s holiday lights? It is true thanks to the generosity of M.E.M.O and its members the Medfield Tree Lighting Ceremony has happened year after year and has grown into the Spectacular & Festive Holiday Event & Weekend that it is now.
