Hunakai Studio of Fine Arts Holds Fall Fundraiser

Hunakai Studio of Fine Arts in Foxborough is holding its biggest annual fundraising event on Thursday, Sept. 15.

Hunakai Studio of Fine Arts is gearing up for an evening of food, art and fundraising.

The studio's biggest annual fundraising event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chestnut Green in Foxborough. The event helps support new programs in art education as well as scholarships for the studio's students, some of which are from Medfield.

Hunakai Studio of Fine Arts is actively fundraising to rebuild their scholarship fund.

"Tuition alone does not cover our costs. We have a target of lowering tuition but can't do it yet. We offer scholarships for anyone coming here. We want people to study art and understand things are tight because of the economy," said Executive Director and Instructor Carla Carey.

Scholarship applications were made available at the Hunakai Studio of Fine Arts open house, which was held on Sept. 11.

The studio's fundraising event on Sept. 15 will feature live music, hors d'oeuvres from Saki's Pizza Time and hand rolled sushi from Mai Pearl, silent auctions, raffles, the famous Fine Art Draw and more.

"At our fine Art Draw, people can buy a ticket that guarantees they will go home with a framed original piece of art, which are being donated from area artists" noted Carey. "Everyone is donating to the event. It has become such a community sponsored event."

Tickets are $30 at the door. Ticket prices include food, beer and wine.

Contributions can be tax deductible, as the studio is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.
