Hunter's Run!

On Sunday morning, April 8th, which turned out to be a very chilly morning, approximately 300 runners participated in Hunter's Run at the Kingsbury Club.

Nine year old Hunter, a 2 time double lung transplant recipient, participated in the 1 mile Fun Run, and he did quite well in running around half mile of it. He is a very special boy with grit and determination. Only two days out of the hospital and was a bit under the weather, he still chose to participate and RUN!

This event included two races; the 5K and the 1 mile Fun Run.

In addition to the runners, many family members, friends and Wheelock School staff were there to support this cause. Police Chief Bob Meaney, a close friend and supporter of this event, along with one of Medfield's finest were there displaying a Hunter's Run street sign on the dashboard of the cruiser. The Hunter's Run Tresca Bros. truck, driven by Jimmy, was parked at the entrance to the Kingsbury Club, showing support for this cause as well. And the Kingsbury Club's sign welcomed everyone for Hunter's Run.

This event was extremely successful and the fundraising total is upwards of $15,000!

Hunter’s Run Foundation’s mission is to bring awareness to the importance of Organ Donation. It also serves to help various organizations such as Boston Children’s Hospital and Donate Life. Hunter’s Run Foundation will also reach out to local residents and help them in their time of medical needs.

Kristen Williams, Hunter's Mom, and her friend Kristen Saulnier of Medfield founded Hunter's Run Foundation. After the race, Williams said, "Thank you, the community, for coming out and supporting Hunter's Run Foundation. We love having this annual run that has more than doubled in size from its first year. The proceeds from this run benefit Children's Hospital Pediatric Transplant Center in which those funds help transplant families with expenses during the transplant process which can be lengthy. Hunter's Run Foundation also supports other local charities such as Donate Life and NEADS to name a few."

Williams went on to say, "Thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers for their continued support in our effort to raise organ donation awareness. We are excited for next year as we continue to grow. Since we are growing we are seeking members of the community to be a part of the foundation committee. Anyone interested, please contact me (Kristen Williams) at swierky43@comcast.net.
