Joining the schedule in October, beginning Saturday, October 6 is a 9:00 a.m. is ZUMBA. Exercising to the beats of salsa, flamenco, and meringue will surely start your weekend off right. The music feels more like a dance party than a workout, which is exactly what makes Zumba so popular. The Latin-inspired dance workout is one of the most popular group exercise classes in the world. ... You don't need to be a great dancer to feel welcome in our Zumba class. Everyone is welcome to join our instructor, Lourdes Fournier for this early morning workout at the Center. The cost is a drop in rate of only $5/class.
Do you love the “Arts” and would like to experience it in a different way? Join Jerry Cianciolo for his unique Arts Reaction program beginning Saturday, October 20 for 5 weeks at 1:00 p.m. Introduce yourself to the works of famous painters, composers, writers, sculptors and dancers. You might love some of them and turn your nose up at others. But that is the fun of this lively and entertaining 5 week, arts-reaction program. Register now, as the program is limited to 15 participants. The cost is $20 for the five sessions and checks should be made out to The Town of Medfield-COA. Call the COA for any questions at 508-359-3665.

The Saturday program is now in its last 3 months. This addition to what the Council on Aging offers during the week has been well received with an average of 52 people attending each Saturday. The Council on Aging is looking at ways to continue Saturdays and make it a regular part of what the Center offers.
Information about the success of this program and the intent, to address Social Isolation, has been given to the Medfield Board of Selectmen. The Friends of Medfield Seniors have initiated a grant application to hopefully address the continuation and the Council on Aging is asking for any thoughts, suggestions and support as to how we can continue to offer our Saturday program when it comes to a close on December 29, 2018.
As one participant wrote, “When you lose your spouse, weekends are very difficult and lonely. All the memories of shopping together, visiting friends and family and knowing that others are out together enjoying themselves; the Center makes weekends a pleasure again”.
If you have any ideas or thoughts that will assist the COA, please attend our next monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 3 at 10:30 a.m. or call Roberta Lynch at 508-359-3665.
