Letter to the Community from School Committee Chair

Hello Medfield,

When I first ran for School Committee as a write-in candidate, I wasn’t sure what to expect—but I knew our schools mattered too much not to try. Thanks to this incredible community (and a lot of correctly spelled write-ins), I had the honor of serving. Now, three years later, I’m running for re-election, excited to continue the work of advocating for our students, supporting our families, and strengthening the future of Medfield’s schools.

Medfield’s schools are a cornerstone of our community, and I’m dedicated to ensuring they remain strong and vibrant for all students, educators, and families. During my time on the School Committee, I’ve worked to support initiatives that enhance education, improve communication, and plan for the future. Some of the key areas I’ve focused on include:

* Strategic Planning & Long-Term Vision – Served as a member of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and have actively supported the five-year strategic plan since its adoption, ensuring alignment with district goals and community needs. This plan has guided key initiatives such as reducing kindergarten tuition, working towards free full day kindergarten for all.
* Budget & Policy – Supported the completion of a multi-year initiative to review and digitize the district’s policy manual, ensuring accessibility and alignment with best practices. Engaged in a thorough and collaborative budget process with the Warrant Committee, balancing the priorities of the Strategic Plan with the town’s financial constraints.
* School Building Committee – A founding member of the (new) School Building Committee, working diligently to develop a school plan that the whole community can support. This work has included securing MSBA funding, evaluating site locations, and gathering community input to ensure the plan aligns with the needs of students and the broader community.
* Enhancing Communication & Community Engagement – Launched School Committee social media accounts and ensured updates are regularly posted on the district website. Strengthened partnerships with school organizations, including the PTO, Site Council, MCPE, and SEPAC. Introduced informal conversations with the community and attended school open houses to encourage communication and connection.
* Ongoing Dedication – From attending numerous meetings and budget discussions to collaborating with fellow committee members and community leaders, I have done the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our schools moving forward.

As we look ahead, I remain committed to advocating for Medfield’s students and families. If re-elected, I will continue working to ensure our schools provide a high-quality education that meets the needs of every student.

I am grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me and have appreciated the conversations I’ve had with so many of you over the past three years. I would love to continue to hear what’s on your mind—whether it’s about school policies or even just a great coffee recommendation to get through all these meetings.

I respectfully ask for your vote on Monday, March 31.
