"Letter to the Editor" from MHS Theatre Society Students

MHS Theatre Society Students thank their director, Andrea McCoy, for all of her meaningful contributions throughout the year.

An Open Letter from the Students of the Medfield High School Theater Society;

Earlier this month, we, the students of the Medfield High School Theatre Society, completed our final performance of our spring musical, PIPPIN. Shortly after the show, many of us received touching emails from teachers, congratulations from friends, and words of support from the entire community. The prevailing message was that this was a performance to remember. The audience could see on stage the incredible spirit that we have experienced throughout this entire season. After such a challenging yet fulfilling year we would like to take this opportunity to thank the one woman who made it all possible: our director, Andrea McCoy.

Ever since last spring when she accepted the position, she has gone above and beyond to ensure that this society provides the best student experience possible. She takes the time to connect with each individual, and offers them opportunities for growth in theatre, onstage or off. By recognizing our individual strengths, she is able to guide us yet also afford us the independence to grow as theatre performers, as technicians, and as humans. She works especially diligently with all the Special Education students to provide them an opportunity to participate in each production in a meaningful way. Ms. McCoy guarantees that all students have a home in theatre.

Ms. McCoy has surpassed all of our expectations from the very beginning. Over the summer, she worked tirelessly in preparation for the coming school year, communicating with each of us to preserve and improve upon the current program. Her concrete organizational efforts have ensured stability and professionalism for future members. After only one season, Ms. McCoy has taught us all invaluable lessons about dedication, stagecraft, kindness, responsibility, and teamwork that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.

Thank you!
The Students of the MHS Theatre Society
