Letter to the Editor, Question 2 on Ballot

Letter to the Editor from Medfield teachers, who live in Medfield....

To the Editor,

Who supports the June 11th Ballot Question 2 Proposition 2 ½ override increasing school and town operating budgets? Medfield teachers who live in Medfield do!

You might be surprised at the number of Medfield teachers who were raised in Medfield and then chose to make it their adult home too. Many other Medfield teachers have resided in town for decades. Despite it often taking significant sacrifices to live in the community we teach in, well over thirty Medfield public school teachers live in our town. We do so for the same reason everybody else does: the quality of the public schools. As teachers, we passionately believe that the override is necessary to ensure the ongoing excellence of Medfield schools.

Another surprising fact is that about another 200 Massachusetts Teachers Association professionals choose to make their homes in Medfield too! And these public school teachers, professors, and other education professionals do so for probably the same reason you do: the consistent excellence of the schools, and in turn the positive impact they have on many other aspects of life in Medfield from strong property values to quality of life.

We, the Medfield Teachers Association members who reside in Medfield, strongly urge you to vote yes on Ballot Question 2, increasing school and town operating budgets. We hope you join us in supporting the Town Meeting override vote on Ballot Question 2, when you go to the polls on June 11th at the Medfield Adult Center on Ice House Road. It’s the smart decision for Medfield!
