Letter to the Editor in Support of Jessica Reilly for School Committee

The following Letter to the Editor was submitted by current, future and past presidents of the MCPE.

To the Editor,

We write to you today to wholeheartedly express our support for Jessica Reilly as a candidate for the Medfield School Committee. As present, past, and future presidents of Medfield Coalition for Public Education (MCPE), we have witnessed Jessica’s commitment to the Medfield Public Schools and to our children first-hand.

The mission of MCPE is to fund grants in support of curriculum, learning, and innovation in the Medfield Public Schools. As such, the Board has significant fundraising goals as well as fiscal and moral stewardship responsibilities to award grants in line with our mission. During Jessica’s tenure on the Board, she has embodied and exceeded the qualities that we believe would make her an outstanding member of Medfield’s School Committee. Jessica Reilly:

  • actively engages in program evaluation and seeks ways to improve upon previous results to maximize revenue
  • respectfully challenges assumptions during Board discussions, including her own
  • is open-minded and able to look at all facets of a complex issue to arrive at an informed decision
  • is committed to the idea that MCPE grants should benefit the full range of learners within the District
  • is an outward-facing, open communicator who has significantly advanced MCPE’s social media profile with income generating results.

This year, Jessica initiated the position of SEPAC Liaison to both increase MCPE’s awareness of needs within Special Education, and to make sure that children with different learning needs were given a voice on the Board.

In short, we believe that Jessica Reilly’s passion for education, initiative, and excellent communication skills, coupled with her understanding of the complex issues facing the town, make her the kind of School Committee member that Medfield needs now.
