Strong Support of Maryanne Sullivan from Former School Committee Members

Dear Editor,

We are writing to enthusiastically support Maryanne Sullivan’s bid for re-election to the Medfield School Committee on March 26.

Through our years of working together on the School Committee we have always known Maryanne to be honest, smart, thoughtful, tough, circumspect and extremely hard working. She is a true asset to our School Committee and our town.

Serving on the School Committee is much more than attending meetings every other Monday night. It also entails collaborating with the Warrant Committee on the school budget while being mindful and respectful of the other town departments. It involves working closely with teachers, town officials, parents and other citizens on searches for important town positions such as the Superintendent and Principals. It includes working with the Superintendent, Director of Finance and Union Reps on collective bargaining agreements for the teachers, custodians and secretaries to agree on fair and equitable contracts. Most importantly, each decision involves being mindful of what is best for each child in this school system while also working within the budget constraints of the town. Maryanne always brings integrity, balance, intelligence and thoughtful experience to each sub committee she serves on.

Maryanne has been a tireless worker on the School Committee for the last six years and has willingly served as Chair for the last two adding additional responsibilities and effort. She has been a true champion for children at EVERY level of the school system. During the last six years Maryanne has advocated for the implementation of full-day kindergarten, has supported and helped implement the extension and alignment of the school day and has supported the implementation of the RISE program at the High School. RISE helps children transition back into school after an injury, illness or other extended absence. Maryanne has also been instrumental in supporting the district’s social-emotional health initiatives through the hire of full time guidance counselors at the 3 elementary schools. She has also supported enhanced safety measures in all of the schools.

Maryanne always makes decisions based on what is best for ALL children in our community. She has experience as both a parent and a school volunteer who has had children in each of the Medfield schools. With her years of dedication on the School Committee she understands how the town and school works and has built strong relationships with the other administrators in town.

We hope you will join us in voting for Maryanne Sullivan on Monday, March 26!

Polls are located at The Center at 1 Ice House Road and are open from 6 am to 8 pm. Thank you!
