Letter to the Editor...

I am blown away by the spirit of this town. As someone who grew up in Medfield and is now back here raising my children I am filled with hope by all those who have signed this petition and shared comments.

Today, I am reaching out to all 1,211 of you, who as of this writing, signed this petition. We have former and current Medfield school teachers, alumni, alumni parents, community members, and current students on this ever-growing list – all with the common goal of saying, enough is enough.
Why?

  • The petition is starting to affect change.
  • It forced Dr. Jeffery Marsden and Principal Holli Caulfield to react with a letter (click here) even though many believe it was completely unsatisfactory.
  • It shows we are the ones truly fostering community.
  • We are able to articulate why we care about our town, its character, and the values we represent.

This is a call to action. If you feel that this response regarding the removal of an integral part of a 44-year tradition for our elementary students here in Medfield was unsatisfactory, please take one or more of these steps:

  1. Write an e-mail and send it directly to Dr. Marsden (jmarsden@email.medfield.net) and Principal Caufield (hcaulfield@email.medfield.net) letting them know how you feel.
  2. Call Dr. Marsden (508-359-2303) or Principal Caulfield (508-359-6055) to express your views.
  3. Attend the School Committee meeting this Thursday, Oct. 13 promptly at 7 p.m. at the Medfield High School library to provide public input or support others who will be giving it. If you’re willing to say just a few words, it would be great to know. We can assist if needed.

It’s critically important that we have a large showing of people at the Oct. 13 meeting to demonstrate we are one community. Wear your favorite Medfield gear and support this town that we all love!
