Through the coordinated and heroic actions of the first responders on scene, a human life was saved, despite the most dire of circumstances.
The efforts of our teams, which involved members of every rank and tenure, from Fire Chief Carrico, his rescue personnel, police veterans and a newly appointed officer, ultimately changed the expected fatal outcome of that collision.
I thank the Board of Selectmen and Chairman Marcucci for honoring the superior performance of the first responders that evening." Chief Guerette, MPD
Following her comments, all three members of the Board of Selectman spoke of the extraordinary team effort by these first responders followed by Board of Selectman Chairman Mike Marcucci presenting each with a Life Saving Medal and thanked them for their exceptional work. Selectman Peterson and Selectman Murby also shook hands and thanked each recipient.
In addition to those doing business at this meeting, many friends, family and other Police/Fire personnel attended to support the recipients and applauded the heroic actions of these individuals by giving them a standing ovation.
