BSA Trooop 89 donate to Medfield Food Cupboard...

Each year Troop 89 Boy Scouts offer Medfield residents a Christmas Tree pick up and recycle service, which is their annual fundrasier. Hundreds of Medfield families turn to Troop 89 to pick up and recycle their Christmas Tree each year. Troop 89 chose to donate funds collected from last year's collection to the Medfield Food Cupboard. The Medfield Food Cupboard supports more than 60 local families with free food through the local UCC church.

This decision was made by the Troop's Leadership Committee, which includes the Chairman, Bruce Raine, and the Scoutmaster, Jim Hatch, along with a group of assistant Scoutmasters, Doug Page, Larry Heaney, Rich King, Damian Sheehy, Debbie Erricson and Ken Manning.

This Troop also holds an initiative in the Spring called "Scouting for Food" and they solicit non-perishable food donations from their neighbors and purchase some themselves, and then donate it to the Food Cupboard.

In making this donation, as with previous donations, all the Scouts in Troop 89 learned a valuable lesson about community service and what it means to help those who are far less fortunate. Troop 89 is grateful for this opportunity.
