Medfield Council on Aging (COA) Seeking Volunteers to Shovel Snow for Seniors This Coming Winter

The Medfield Council on Aging (COA) is actively searching for teen volunteers who are available to participate in this winter’s Snow Shoveling Program, which is being offered to provide assistance to seniors who could use some help. This service includes stairs, walkways and around the mailbox. It does not include the driveway.

“Our seniors and shut-in residents are especially vulnerable during the winter months,” said Susan Bernstein, Volunteer Coordinator at the Medfield Council on Aging. “In addition to providing a valuable service that brings peace-of-mind and comfort, the Program also offers a wonderful way of teaching the value of volunteering. This is the perfect volunteer opportunity in these times of COVID-19 since it is a non-contact way to support the elderly in town.”

The Snow Shoveling Program is greatly appreciated by those who simply don’t have the mobility to struggle with snow removal.

Every attempt is made to assign teens to a family in their neighborhood. With that in mind, these are the areas currently in need of volunteers:
