Over the years John has been a strong advocate for Service Dogs particularly for veterans.

John who was accompanied by “Rainbow” a retired service dog, briefed Post members on the history of NEADS involvement with wounded warriors. In May of 2006, NEADS was invited to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside Washington, D.C. to give a presentation about the many skills and tasks that service dogs could offer to combat veterans. Based on the interest and enthusiasm from the Veterans Administration, NEADS formed the Canines for Combat Veterans (CCV) program, which is today known as Service Dogs for Veterans (SDV).
