Medfield Boys' Golf Completes First Ever Perfect Regular Season

The 2011 Medfield High School boys' golf team did something Tuesday that no other team in the program's history has been able to do – finish the regular season a perfect 18-0.

The Warriors (18-0, 18-0) defeated Westwood, 227-235 and Norton, 227-239 at Norfolk GC Tuesday to capture a perfect season in the Tri-Valley League.

"A great team effort by all," said Medfield head coach George Callahan. "Dave Swanson finished his senior year with a great performance. He finished the regular season with a 35.5 scoring average. As you can see, all the players on the team played well when the pressure was on."

Dave Swanson and Brett Thomas each shot a 35 Tuesday to lead Medfield. Other Medfield scores: Dan Neidermire (38), Mike Mulrey (39), Cal Given (40), Pat O'Reilly (40), Mike DiFiore (42) and John Monahan (43).

Next up for Medfield, the 2011 TVL regular season champions, is the TVL tournament, which will be held Thursday at Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis. Swanson, Mulrey, Thomas and Given will be representing  Medfield.

Then on Oct. 24, the MIAA South sectionals will be held at South Shore CC in Hingham. Swanson, Mulrey, Thomas, Given, DiFiore and O'Reilly will be playing.
