Medfield BSA Troop 89 donates Christmas tree pick-up funds to Rocky Woods

Recently, Troop 89 Sr Patrol Leader Kenny Manning met with Mike Francis of the Trustees of the Reservation to deliver a donation from the funds raised during the troop's 26th annual Christmas Tree Pick-up fundraiser. The Trustees of the Reservation's mission is to protect places of
ecological, scenic, and historical importance. They care for approximately 100 unique places in Massachusetts. Rocky Woods, a Trustees property located in Medfield, often serves as a meeting and camping space for Medfield Scouts.

"We are proud of our tradition of helping others and supporting our community," said Jim Hatch, Troop 89 Scoutmaster. "The scouting program promotes connection to nature and the importance of stewardship. We are thankful to have such a great larger-scale example in the work that the Trustees of the Reservation does at Rocky Woods."

With the support of the Town of Medfield and its residents, Troop 89 is able to continue its tradition of donating a portion of the funds raised to local nonprofits. This year The Medfield Food Pantry, The Medfield Animal Shelter, and The Trustees of the Reservation were selected to
receive donations.
