Medfield BSA Troop 89 donates Christmas tree pick-up funds to Medfield Food Cupboard.
Recently, Troop 89 Sr Patrol Leader Kenny Manning met with members of the Medfield Food Cupboard to deliver a donation from the funds raised during the troop's 26th annual Christmas Tree Pick-up fundraiser. The Medfield Food Cupboard has been supporting the residents of Medfield for 30 years. They offer assistance to any Medfield resident in need of food support, whether a one-time emergency or for longer stretches. Currently, more than 70 households, or about 200 individuals, are served, including seniors, single-parent households, and families. The Medfield Food Cupboard relies 100% on the generosity of its donors. For more information on how to donate please visit their website: https://www.medfieldfoodcupboard.com/about
Troop 89 also supports the food cupboard through two food collection initiatives in the spring and fall, where they solicit nonperishables from neighbors to donate to the cupboard. During the council-wide collection called Scouting For Food, Troop 89 donated over 400lbs of food.
"We are proud of our tradition of helping others and supporting our community," said Jim Hatch, Troop 89 Scoutmaster. "Through these opportunities, our scouts learn the importance of giving to others."

With the support of the Town of Medfield and its residents, Troop 89 is able to continue its tradition of donating a portion of the funds raised to local nonprofits. This year The Medfield Food Pantry, The Medfield Animal Shelter, and The Trustees of the Reservation were selected to receive donations.
