Medfield COA Hosting FREE Workshop...

The Center at Medfield will be hosting a free six-week workshop Cancer: Thriving and Surviving.

The Center at Medfield Hosting Workshop - Cancer: Thriving and Surviving.

The Center at Medfield will be hosting a free six-week workshop Cancer: Thriving and Surviving. This program is a lay-leader participant education program offered to adults age eighteen and older. Cancer survivors, their family members, friends and caregivers are ideal participants. A cancer survivor is defined as anyone who has ever had a diagnosis of cancer and is alive today. It is an evidence-based program that promotes the empowerment of people with cancer to take control of their health and to improve the quality of their lives. Subjects covered in the sessions include:

-Techniques to deal with problems such as fatigue, frustration, pain and isolation

-Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance

-How to communicate effectively with family, friends and medical professionals

-Decision making

-How to evaluate new treatments

The workshop is given 2½ hours once a week for six weeks from September 28th to November 2nd – 9:30 to 12:00. Each participant will also receive a companion book, “Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions,” and a relaxation CD.
