Medfield Farmers' Market Ends October 4

Check out the fall harvests and more through September

The “Dog Days of Summer” linger as the daylight wanes but the Medfield Farmers’ Market continues through September. All it needs to make it worthwhile for vendors is customers. The vendors: farmers, artists, beekeepers, cooks and service persons will staff the market through September on the lawn of the First Parish Meeting House (UU Church on North St. The market opens at 2:00 each Thursday afternoon and closes at 6:00. Fresh salad makings enhance the dinner hour.

This week there will be pottery and quilts nestled among the fruit, vegetables, honey and home cooked goodies of the First Parish Bake Sale table. The home baked goodies are supplied by the church members who donate all the profit to the maintenance fund of one of Medfield’s historic gems, the first meeting house, (which of course has been replaced several times.)

A relative new comer to the Thursday market, Box Pleat, a fabric artist is committed to being on site with her lovely quilts and other fabric artwort weekly through to the September closing. Farm Pond Pottery, also relatively new, will be there this week to exhibit and sell her handcrafted pottery. A Norwood dance studio, Plie Barre is a recent vendor entry who will be returning on September 27. Thanks to the Bruin Corporation who attended several times this summer through September 6 to answer questions and offer advice on home repairs and renovations.

Of course the market would have fallen short without the dedication and fresh harvests of Chris and Christie, White Barn’s farmers of Wrentham, one of several weekly anchors from opening day in June; as was Tony of Little Beehive Farm in Holliston. The farmer/beekeeper assisted with many market details while selling his fresh honey products. The bicycle service which was consistent through the summer months now may be dependent on their school schedules. This Medfield Bicycle Service is locally owned and operated by middle school students.

Parking for the market can be found behind the church building or along North St. adjacent to Meeting House Pond. Please continue your shopping locally to support the market vendors throughout the month of September.
