Medfield Farmers' Market Includes Lamb From An Area Sheep Farm

If you love lamb, be sure to visit the Lightning Ridge booth Thursdays

The local area sheep farm, Lightning Ridge is a new vendor at the Medfield Farmers’ Market this season. The farmers introduce customers to their fresh lamb at the weekly Thursday market from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on the lawn of the historic First Parish Meeting House, adjacent to the pond on North St. The Corriedale sheep on this family owned farm in Sherborn are raised for the quality of both their wool and their meat. Wool products and all cuts lamb, including ground, are on sale at the booth.

Although not all vendors at the market attend weekly, the small market, supported in part by the First Parish UU Church, boasts at least 26 vendors for their eighth season. There are at least three farmers Lightning Ridge, White Barn Farm from Wrentham with its seasonal produce and Little Beehive farm, of Holliston, with fresh honey and products made from it.. Their products complement each other. There will also be about half of the 26 vendors appearing weekly, the rest will be on a rotating schedule.

In addition to offering its lawn to the market, First Parish participates in the market with a Bake Sale table. Church members donate their homemade items from a favorite recipe. The profits from this table go directly to support the historic building.

Rainy days are still Market Days, although there may be fewer vendors participating in the rain, especially those who are occasional vendors only. Check the market weekly and log on to the Medfield Farmers Market Facebook page frequently to keep up to date.
