Medfield FD delivers baby boy!
On Friday, September 30, 2018, a baby boy was delivered by Medfield Firefighters in the back parking lot of the Public Safety Building.

A Special delivery in Medfield!
The birth of a baby boy in the back parking lot of the Public Safety Building on Friday was quite unexpected, but then again, fire departments deal with the unexpected every day. Both Medfield Fire Chief William Carrico and FF Martino of the Westwood Fire Department had a few words to say in regard to this special delivery...
"On Friday [September 30], Lt. Mike Harman and FF Tom Cronin delivered a baby boy in the parking lot of the fire station. Apparently, the woman and her husband pulled into the parking lot as she was not feeling well. It became immediately apparent she was delivering the baby right there. There were some minor complications with the baby not breathing at first. Falling back on their training, they were able to get the baby breathing quickly and they were both transported without incident. Westwood Fire was dispatched as the ALS unit and the crew received accolades for their fast thinking and great work."

"As I have had some time this morning to reflect and process the events of yesterday’s medical call in Medfield, there is not a doubt in my mind that the quick thinking and actions of the Medfield crew were instrumental in the positive outcome of the call. I feel this type of call is a rare and extremely high pressure situation we seldom face in our careers, and their actions should be commended."
