Medfield Field Hockey to Begin Second Half

Medfield Field Hockey 4-3-2 at Halfway Point

The Medfield High School Field Hockey Team is currently 4-3-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the Tri Valley League. The team will begin the second half of the season Monday night at Needham followed by a road game in Ashland on Tuesday. The team recently had 2 games ending in 1-1 ties. Collen Gair had the goal vs. Medway with and assist by Maggie Spinard - Medway scored with 33 seconds in the game to secure a 1-1 tie. On the road in Hopkinton Medfield also tied 1-1 with the roles reverse as Maggie Spinard got the goal and Collen Gair with the assist. On September 17 in Bellingham the goals came in bunches with a 6-0 victory. Gair had the hatrick, Spinard with 2 goals, and Laura Diggans had the final goal. MaryKate McNeil had 3 assists and Haley Tschirch and Cara Lyons chipped in with assists as well.

Most recently the iron of the league Dover Sherborn came into Medfield and won 3-1. Dover Sherborn scored early and had a 3-0 halftime lead. Medfield bounced back to play very well in the second half eventually falling 3-1. Maggie Spinard had the goal with Laura Diggans with the assist.

The Tri Valley League continues to be one of the more competitive leagues in Massachusetts. So far, the games have been battles right from the start.

Senior Haley Tschirch has been playing very strong while controlling the midfield. Emily Piersak and Anna Pagliarulo continue to be anchors on defense. Junior MaryKate McNeil’s ability to stick handle and pass has led to many scoring chances for the Lady Warriors. Goalies Xena Ras and Hannah Doctoroff have been solid in front of the cage making several strong saves.
