PHOTOS: Medfield Field Hockey Swept by Dover-Sherborn in Season Series
For the second time this season, Medfield was shut out by Dover-Sherborn; losing 2-0 Friday.
Entering Friday's game, the Medfield field hockey team had just one loss in 10 Tri-Valley League games this season – a 1-0 loss to Dover-Sherborn on Sept. 27. On Friday, Medfield suffered its second TVL loss of the year, a 2-0 defeat to D-S at the MHS Turf.
"That first goal ... it was 0-0 at half ... whoever got that first goal, the other team was going to get down," said Medfield head coach Mike Mason.
After a scoreless first half, Dover-Sherborn got that crucial first goal off the stick of Andrea Marx with 23:03 remaining in the second half. Less than four minutes later, Meg Nolan scored on a ball misplayed by the Medfield defense, sneaking past Warriors' goalkeeper Carrie Cook with 19:37 to play.

"That goal that Carrie let up was kind of a fluke," Mason said.
Despite the 2-0 loss, Medfield had its share of opportunities to score in an entertaining, back-and-forth affair between two evenly matched teams.

"It was definitely a game of runs ... that whole first half," Mason said. "Break away for them, break away for us, goalies were playing well. More so in field hockey than in anything else, that first goal [is crucial]. That fluky goal was tough and then it was tough to stop [Dover-Sherborn's] momentum."
Medfield will look to rebound against Medway Monday in a make-up game from Oct. 14 and close out the regular season against Hopkinton and Ashland. The Warriors still have their sights set on the tournament's top spot heading into the final week of the season.
"We're still chasing that top spot," Mason said. "We've got Medway Monday, Hopkinton Tuesday and Ashland Wednesday. It's still very doable."
