Medfield Football Tops Dedham in Season Opener

Medfield sophomore Mitchell Gonser was the star of the game.

Medfield opened up the 2016 high school football season with a victory, beating Dedham, 21-6, at home Friday night.

Sophomore Mitchell Gonser scored all three touchdowns for the Warriors, one rushing and two receiving. Gonser had 116 yards on six catches. He added two tackles and a sack.

Junior Ben Adams was the defensive star with a pair of interceptions.

Medfield plays Winthrop at home next Friday. The Vikings lost, 27-7, to Danvers last night.

Dedham next plays host to Bishop Fenwick, which shut out Hamilton-Wenham, 22-0.
