Historical Society to Present Talk on King Philip's War

On Thursday, March 6 at 6:30 PM, the Medfield Historical Society will present "King Philip's War: The History and Legacy of America's Forgotten Conflict" with historian Eric B. Schultz at the Medfield Public Library's Dailey Room.

This year marks the 350th anniversary of the start of the war, a brutal, two-year struggle between Native Americans and the English settlers. Fought in southern New England, the War ended fifty years of peace and changed the cultural and political landscape of New England forever. The War's events, participants, and causes will be considered, including the infamous attack on Medfield in February 1676.

Eric B. Schultz is the author of a comprehensive book on the topic of the talk (Countryman Press, 2017). He is a Director Emeritus of the New England Genealogical Society, and is a current Director of the Old Colony History Museum in Taunton.
