Medfield Home Committee

The annual work of the MHC, which has continued for over 60 years, is made possible by the financial and tangible donations made by others.

DID YOU KNOW….

The Medfield Home Committee (MHC) was formed on November 30, 1959 through the interests of six people who planned to obtain and distribute dinners, gifts, clothing and fruit at Thanksgiving and Christmas to any Medfield resident who would appreciate a little “extra cheer.”

The Medfield Home Committee is composed of a school nurse, the Outreach Director, the Treasurer/Collector, a representative from the Medfield Food Cupboard and two Medfield residents. In addition, various civic organizations, churches and schools contribute greatly to the Medfield Home Committee by donating baked goods, gifts and monetary funds collected from charitable drives.

All recipients remain anonymous and only a few members of the Medfield Home Comittee are aware of who receives the “extra cheer.” Contributions are entirely voluntary and the MHC does not conduct drives to raise funds in town. All funds donated are spent for Medfield residents, thus the HOME in our organizations title.

Greeting cards are sent to the elderly and those in rest homes, letting them know that others are thinking of them. At Thanksgiving and Christmas, home cooked meals and baked goods are delivered to seniors. The Medfield Home Committee supports the campership program that the Medfield Foundation sponsors each year to Medfield students. A Medfield Home Committee tradition is to send a poinsettia to any Medfield resident who has suffered a personal loss or tragedy during the year, or simply to bring a smile to someone. Annually, this is over 100 poinsettias! Fruit baskets, flowers, lap robes and afghans are delivered to the elderly in rest homes. Periodically throughout the year, the Medfield Home Committee assists town residents in other ways.

The annual work of the Medfield Home Committee, which has continued for over 60 years, is made possible by the financial and tangible donations made by others. Donations to the Medfield Home Committee (a 501(c)3 organization) may be made at any time during the year and mailed to the Town House, c/o MHC, Attn: G. Colivas, 459 Main Street, Medfield, MA 02052.
