The annual Golf Ball Drop with proceeds benefiting the Blake Middle School Scholarship Fund was a great success...
Medfield Lions, American Legion, and MFD Working Together in Community By Donating to the Blake Scholarship Fund
Medfield is filled with hard working community groups filled with residents of all ages.
That alone is what makes Medfield a wonderful town to live in and in which to raise a family. There is no lack of opportunities in which to volunteer or join a group in Medfield.
In April, the Medfield Lions Club held their 4th Annual Golf Ball Drop in cooperation with the Medfield Fire Department.

he funds collected were being donated to the BLAKE MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP FUND. This fund was established at Blake to financially aid students whose families need some assistance to send their son or daughter on the 8th grade NYC/Washington DC field trip as well as other needs. When asked about the need a few months ago, the financial need was approximately $24,000. However, with the donation from the Medfield Lions Golf Ball Drop along with a generous donation from the American Legion Beckwith Post 110, the 8th grade students went on this incredible educational and enjoyable trip (although there was significant rain) and they returned to Medfield on Friday evening.
The Lions Golf Ball event was held on Sunday, 4/27 under a grey sky, blustery winds and chilly temperatures. but the community was extremely generous. The Lions "sold" over 875 Golf balls at $5/each and were able to present Blake Middle School Principal, Nat Vaughn, a check for $5,000!

In addition, the American Legion Beckwith Post 110 made a significant contribution to the BLAKE MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP FUND and presented Principal Nat Vaughn with a large check which aided with the cost for several students to attend the trip.
The cooperation from the Medfield Fire Department, in order to hold this fundraiser, and the generosity given to the Blake Middle School from both the Medfield Lions Club and the American Legion Post shows the importance of community.
We appreciated the support of Ingrid and Steve Scanlon, The Hot Dog Wagon and Jeremy Kovacs, Chubs Ice Cream, for joining us out on the Wheelock field on the day of the event. And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated by purchasing golf balls!
