Medfield Looks To Give Historic Pound Tree New Life
Medfield is looking for a creative way to honor a historic tree.
MEDFIELD, MA —A piece of Medfield's history may have fallen, but the town is hoping to give it new life.
Earlier this month, the Pound Tree, believed to be the town's oldest tree, fell after standing for more than 200 years.
Now, town officials are looking for an artist, craftsperson, community group or resident to come up with a creative way to honor the historic tree and preserve its legacy.

There is one requirement for the project: The design must incorporate the tree's existing trunk.
The trunk may be taken off-site while the work is being completed, but the finished piece must be installed at the location where the tree once stood.
