Medfield Plastic Reduction to Host Two Public Information Forums 11/15 and 11/18
The Medfield Plastic Reduction Initiative is hosting two public information forums to discuss the impact of plastic bag use in our community and what actions we might take to reduce our share of the problem.
Plastic bags do not biodegrade. They eventually break down in the presence of light, but the process takes between 200-1000 years to complete. During that time, the bags break into tiny plastic particles and infiltrate every step of the food chain. In response, 87 cities and towns in Massachusetts have banned thin-film, single-use plastic bags at checkout.
