Makerspace Open House & Birthday Party

Come check out all the new equipment, tools and toys we've added to the space, see demonstrations of the 3D printer and vinyl cutter, and find out how you and your family can utilize the Makerspace during library hours. Memoir/Biography Book Club

Tuesday, October 9, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

As we lean into autumn the Memoir/Biography Book Club will meet to discuss renowned author of fiction and children's books, Penelope Lively's Life in the Garden.

A fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Lively celebrates the delights of planning, planting, weeding and harvesting a garden. Besides recounting family gardens in Cairo and Somerset, her own gardens in Oxford and London, and her exuberant trips to garden centers, Lively considers the meaning of gardens to writers such as Virgina Woolf, Edith Wharton, Willa Cather and Laura Ingalls Wilder. A memoir about how gardening sharpens the eye and buoys the spirit.

Leather Stamping FOR TEENS!

Decorate a personalized, leather key fob using metal stamps and rubber mallets! No experience necessary. Participants in grades 7-12 are welcome. Please register as space is limited.

Design and bind your own book to use as a journal, scrap book, photo album, sketchbook, or....?!? We'll have everything you need but feel free to bring interesting paper, old postcards and greeting cards or even cardboard, paper and envelopes out of your recycle bin! Blood Pressure screening with Debbie Bernabei

Monday, October 15, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Please join Medfield's Public Health nurse, Debbie Bernabei, at the Medfield Public Library the 2nd Monday of the month from 10:30-11:30 to get your blood pressure checked and to ask your simple health questions and questions about home and community-based care. If Debbie doesn't know, she will certainly find out!

We are pleased to be working with the town of Medfield and Debbie to be bringing this important service to our patrons!

Author of the Month Night - Dav Pilkey Books!

Fiction Book Club

Parachute Play

Children and their caregivers can ring around the parachute with music, games, a story and a craft! Ages 2-4 with an adult. Please register as space is limited. Registration begins 2 weeks before the date of the program. Please choose either 10:15 or 11:00 session.

Shrinky Dink Jewelry (For Adults!)

Tuesday, October 23, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Shrinky Dinks are not just for kids! Come in to color and shrink a spectacularly spooky piece of jewelry to wear for Halloween or Day of the Dead--or both! We'll have templates that range from kittens-in-pumpkins to scary skulls, or you can draw your own! Everyone will go home with a necklace, pin or pair of earrings. Ages 15 and up are welcome on their own, 12 and up are welcome with an adult caregiver. (If you want to bring the little ones, come down to the Makerspace on Thursday, October 25th from 4-6 p.m.). HAUNTED HOUSE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Our Teen Advisory Group (SLAY) will be meeting weekly, every Tuesday from 5pm to 6pm to plan our annual Haunted House! We need actors, artists, prop makers, and more! FREE snacks and prizes for all volunteers. Let’s get spooky!
