"Many books have been written about cancer, from a patient undergoing treatment, from a loved one dealing with a family member's diagnosis, from a doctor treating a patient, or from an innovator looking to change the trajectory of those diagnosed and treated.
This book is different. Written by the father of Patrick Beauregard, a US Marine diagnosed at 29 with stage 4 colorectal cancer, who was in the prime of his life, healthy, just married, but who unfortunately lost his battle to colorectal cancer at 32. The father who himself is a young-onset cancer survivor, a physician who treated patients for two decades and now works on the administrative side of health care.

This book is a part memoir, part tribute, interspersed with journal entries from his son and a family's struggle. Overall, this book aims to educate the public about the dangerous rise in young-onset cancers, to help provide a roadmap by example of loved ones going through a cancer battle within their own families, and a call to action to the medical community to get ahead of this dangerous rise in young-onset cancers before other families have to endure what happened to the Beauregard family."
The book is a combined memoir and medical saga of one large family's multi-year battle with cancer, with a victory and a tragedy. Although it describes the unusual circumstances of a family in which a physician father and a son were stricken by advanced-stage early onset-cancers,
the book primarily focuses on the inspiring story of the son, who--at age 29--was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and fought valiantly for 3 years before succumbing at 32.
The son's diagnosis reflected an alarming development--the global rise of cancers in younger people. The book is framed to be helpful to cancer sufferers and their families, and offers wide information about the science behind cancer and its treatment--past, present, and possible future. It also chronicles the harsh experience of undergoing treatment, which was faced with extraordinary courage. The book deals with family, love, loss, science, and spirituality.
Dr. Beauregard will be at the Medfield Public Library on Sunday, March 9th at 2pm for an Author Event. Click Here To Sign Up To Attend
