VNA Care’s Needham Area Community Cabinet recently hosted its 8th annual fundraising benefit, themed Evening Under the Stars, at the MIT Endicott House and highlighted the work of VNA Care’s nurses and clinicians

Nearly $60,000 was raised to help people live life to the fullest through high-level home health and hospice services that include comprehensive and compassionate medical care, counseling, and support. Medfield residents Kerrie Ellison of Moderna, and Ellison Patten of Lincoln Property Company serve on the Needham Area Community Cabinet to support these vital services in Medfield and surrounding communities. The Pattens’ longstanding support and generosity has made an immeasurable impact for patients and their families.

“Philanthropy makes a difference in our work each and every day, and we are so grateful to our generous donors and to the community leaders on the Cabinet,” said Laura Wise, manager of fund development.

Fresh from her role on The Voice, Jen Aldana, entertained with a medley of songs. Ellison Patten also served as Fund the Need Co-Chair with fellow Cabinet member Louise Condon. The two shared the ways charitable support aids VNA Care’s mission, and inspired guests to give of themselves and make a difference.

Katey Ivatts, RN, a hospice nurse at VNA Care, gave guests a glimpse into her role in caring for and supporting terminally ill patients and their loved ones. “When I go into someone’s home, I’m caring for my patient and their loved ones during the hardest, most fragile time in their life. To be able to provide care, and ease the transition to a peaceful death, to support and prepare the family and caregivers is an honor I never take for granted.”
