Medfield’s First Climate Week

Medfield Environment Action MEA is excited to announce Medfield's first Climate Week Sat April 29th - Sun May 7th.

There will be a variety of unique and interesting events throughout the week that will get you thinking about climate change and how you can help. Check out the complete Schedule of Events at MEAMedfield.org. Check back frequently as new events may be added. Most events are free, and all are welcome!

One unique event is Kelp Is On the Way a 3- course Kelp (seaweed) tasting menu prepared by chef and food innovator, Andrew Wilkinson on May 6th. Participants will learn about the health and environmental benefits of kelp.

This program requires preregistration and a $30 fee. Register at adventmedfield.org/kelp.

There are transportation related activities such as an Electric Vehicle Show on Sunday May 7th, 1-3 pm at the Center at Medfield parking lot and a hike and several bike rides around scenic trails in Medfield.

There are many opportunities to learn about solar energy and speak directly to homeowners about the process, along with a homeowner's discussion about his Geothermal Heat Pump Conversion and another is hosting Talk Tesla. There will be a showing of Catching the Sun, which is a terrific solar documentary. Several events are taking place to reuse items or clothing and keep them out of landfills. Pick up a book and learn about climate issues at several book displays.

Get discounts on sustainable, earth-friendly products at the Butterfly Tree Shop and organic wines at Larkins Liquor. Participate in planning and growing a Colonial Vegetable Garden at the Peak House.

Come visit the friendly goats who are busy cleaning up and greening our planet and get information on No Mow May as well as demonstrations of robotic lawn mowers and other sustainable yard tools at the First Parish Church on Saturday, May 6th, 11-1.

There is also an event on permeable pavers and rain barrels. Settle your mind with a contemplative community labyrinth walk or relax and learn how to knit a temperature blanket.

On Monday May 1 attend Town Meeting at the High School and support Warrant Article #25 to bring solar arrays to the schools.
