Medfield’s Wheelock School Celebrates Community Day
Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden and Principal Holli Caulfield are pleased to announce that Wheelock School students celebrated Community Day at the school recently.
Wheelock School Community Day began in 2020 to replace the traditional “Field Day” that was held at the school for many years. It is a chance for students and staff to celebrate the Wheelock school community in a fun and interactive way.
The goal of Community Day is to include all students by offering field events, games, dancing, art,
music, cultural events and a DJ. Students received “sportsman chips” for displaying good sportsmanship during the day.

The day started with an opening ceremony that included “flag runners” and a third grade student sang the National Anthem.
Each homeroom was designated a team color and teams learned different greetings in different
languages. Teams included Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Greek and Portuguese.

Community Day culminated with the entire student body dancing to a song called, “Jerusalema,” led by Wheelock music teacher Eithne Stover.
“This day could not happen without the more than 50 parent volunteers who have worked so hard to prepare for this special day,” Principal Caulfield said. “It was great seeing our students come together for this celebration as a way to wrap up the school year.”
