Medfield (SEPAC) Announces Exciting New Programs
The Medfield Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is pleased to announce the launch of several new programs in 2024, complementing our regular meetings and workshops. These initiatives aim to strengthen the support network for parents and caregivers of children
with special needs while recognizing outstanding efforts within the Medfield Public School District.
Parent Connection Groups: Strengthening Bonds through Shared Experiences
In response to valuable feedback from meetings and surveys, Medfield SEPAC introduces Parent Connection Groups. These informal gatherings, facilitated by dedicated parent volunteers, bring together parents and caregivers whose loved ones share a common diagnosis. While not professional support groups, these sessions provide an opportunity for sharing personal experiences and resources, fostering a sense of community among families facing similar challenges. Currently, there are groups focused on the following areas: Down Syndrome, ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia + Language Based Learning Disabilities and Mental Health.

Jim James Inclusion Award: Celebrating Champions of Inclusivity
The Jim James Inclusion Award, sponsored by Medfield SEPAC, honors district employees who exemplify inclusive practices, ensuring all learners feel welcomed and celebrated. Named after Jim James, former educator and owner of Park Street Books, the award recognizes those who go above and beyond to support students with special educational needs. Nominations are open to special educators, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and any staff member making a significant impact. Recipients will be selected by SEPAC officers and honored at a school
committee meeting. Families are invited to nominate deserving educators who make extraordinary efforts for the inclusion and support of students with special needs. The online nomination form will be open from April to May, allowing time to identify those who go the extra mile for students in the Medfield Public School District.
