Medfield Together is working to build and stock Little Inclusive Libraries around our community with children’s picture books, young adult literature, and fiction & nonfiction books for all ages.

The first LIL is located at The Pfaff Center near the Dale Street parking lot. Medfield Together has plans in the works to add more LILs around town in the near future.

Inspiration for the Little Inclusive Libraries came from the Little Diverse Library project in Arlington started by a woman named Sarah Kamya.

What makes LILs distinct from other similar community libraries are the contents. LILs are stocked with books selected for their alignment with Medfield Together’s social justice values, including anti-bias/anti-racist themes, diverse characters, social emotional learning, critical thinking, activism, community building, and more. Most of the books are written by diverse authors and feature diverse characters. All of the books chosen for the LILs by Medfield Together have an MT bookplate/sticker either on the inside of the cover or on the back. Anyone can borrow a book from the library, enjoy it for up to a few weeks and return it to the same LIL for others to read.

These books can be purchased from Park Street Books (by visiting 504 Main Street in Medfield, by calling 508-242-3083, or via their website www.parkstreetbooks.com). PSB will hold onto the purchased books until a Medfield Together member picks them up, adds an MT bookplate, and brings them to one of the Little Inclusive Libraries.
