Medfield Troop 89 Holds Court Of Honor
Medfield Troop 89 held a court of honor Thursday, June 9th at Dale Street School, to celebrate the achievements of scouts.

The masters of ceremony were Daniel Kemp and James Murphy. Committee Chair,Karl Kemp’s opening remarks recognized the work of the many volunteers that it takes to run a successful scouting program and the commitment and discipline of the scouts who put in the work on rank and merit badge requirements.
“I am continually proud of our scouts and grateful for our volunteers, who help Troop 89 to continue to deliver a top notch scouting program. ” said James Hatch, Scoutmaster. “During a time of ever changing guidelines, we have been able to continue to help scouts learn and grow through rethinking how we deliver programs and knowledge and we couldn’t do that with out the support of our scouting family.”

Scout Rank: Jin Xu-Allan, Jordan Agnello, Charlie Resch, Gaetano Zheng.

Life Scout: Nathan Korterba, Marco Benson Eagle Scout: Billy Whitaker, Everett Lybrand
Fourteen scouts earned a total of 50 merit badges. The topics ranged from art, astronomy, climbing, canoeing, cooking, camping, communications, citizenship in the world, citizenship in the nation, citizenship in society, citizenship in the community, family life, emergency
preparedness, public speaking, personal fitness, photography and snow sports.
Eagle Scout, Kenneth Manning, earned two palms. Palms are a special award earned after the rank of Eagle that recognizes merit badges earned after the 21 required for the rank of Eagle
The troop recognized the impact of volunteers, including twenty-two adults and senior scouts who ran the troop’s second Merit Badge University in March. Troop 89 has run two merit badge university programs, one virtual in 2019 and one in person in 2022, when the council could not offer them. The troop also recognized two adults stepping down from the troop committee. The Troop Committee is comprised of adult volunteers who lend their time and expertise to ensure Troop 89 continues to deliver a top notch scouting program. The troop recognized Fred Lybrand, former Committee chair and Richard King, Advancement Chair for their service.
Medfield Troop 89 is a member of the Metacomet district in the Mayflower Scouts BSA Council, chartered to the American Legion. Service. Community engagement and leadership development are integral parts of the Scouts BSA program.
