Jim Sano, the Medfield-based author known for his faith-infused storytelling, has announced the upcoming release of his ninth novel, The Fighter. Set for publication on June 12, the book marks the latest installment in Sano’s popular Father Tom Series, which follows the compassionate priest Father Tom Fitzpatrick in the Boston Archdiocese.

The Fighter centers on a 34-year-old underground boxer, Danny Nolan, who lives under the cloud of mystery of both parents abandoning him at the age of 15, surviving by his wits and fighting ability. Danny faces renewed fear of isolation as his 19-year-old daughter prepares to leave home. He enters a high-stakes boxing championship tournament and reluctantly allows Angelo and Father Tom into his corner for support. Tension escalates when he is pressured to throw the championship fight amid a dangerous entanglement involving the mafia, a rival black gang war, and the kidnapping of his daughter.
