Due to the ongoing pandemic, MFD is not issuing paper brush burning permits, however, they will issue permits over the phone.

The 2021 brush season is here.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are not issuing paper brush burning permits. If you would like a permit for brush burning, please call the fire department business line 508-359-2323 and we will issue a permit over the phone. Rules for burning are available on the departments website. and listed below:
Open burning is allowed from January 15 thru May 01 between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm only.

1) Call the Medfield Fire Dept. on the day you wish to burn at 508-359-2323 permits will be issued, weather permitting, between the hours of 0900 and 1200pm
2) THE BURNING OF STUMPS, LEAVES, GRASS, RUBBISH OR BUILDING MATERIALS ARE PROHIBITED. THE USE OF GASOLINE IS PROHIBITED.
3) Burning must take place at least 75’ from the nearest structure.
4) A charged garden hose and suitable hand tools must be readily available to control the fire.
5) Keep brush piles to a small and manageable size
6) A competent person must attend and control the fire until it is completely extinguished.
ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE ABOVE REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN THIS PERMIT BEING REVOKED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE BURNING SEASON.
