Watch how Selectman and School Committee candidates handled questions; learn about Library Trustees, marijuana ballot

What would you do to improve transparency? What Medfield State Hospital plan concepts do you believe are most aligned with the community goals and desires? How would you assess how we’re doing in our schools with preventing issues related to social-emotional/mental health?

These were excerpts of just some of the questions asked at the March 16 Candidate Forum where Medfield voters had the chance to hear from individuals running in the three contested races of Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Library Trustee.

If you missed the event, you can now watch it online on YouTube, thanks to Medfield.TV. (For future reference, search YouTube.com for "Town Election 2017: Candidates forum (3-16-2017)."

The Candidate Forum was organized by the grassroots Voters Services Committee comprised of former members of the Medfield League of Women Voters and other residents engaged in civic affairs.

All pre-submitted questions were reviewed and selected by a VSC subcommittee and media representative prior to the event; committee members also screened last-minute questions submitted at the Forum. A number of questions were merged to avoid duplication; others were eliminated if they targeted one particular candidate or were deemed inappropriate.

Additional questions asked of the candidates touched upon short- and long-term town plans, budget constraints, economic development, possible impact of federal school vouchers on Medfield Public Schools, affordable housing/40B and senior housing, teacher/administrator compensation, student diversity/acceptance.

Medfield residents are encouraged to vote on March 27 at the Center for Medfield.
