Montrose School Celebrates International Week

Promoting cultural awareness and fostering a passion for the study of foreign languages, Montrose School celebrates International Week.

Montrose School, an independent school for girls in grades 6 - 12, with a Catholic tradition, recently celebrated International Week. International Week offered a chance to promote cultural awareness and inspire passion for the study of foreign languages. The week featured a diverse array of educational and fun-filled activities - singing, dancing, games, presentations, guest speakers - and culminated in an International Festival on Friday, April 29. The Festival turned Montrose School’s Arts & Athletics Center into a virtual United Nations of food, drink, traditional clothing, song and dance. The entire Montrose community, including students, siblings, parents and grandparents, was invited to attend the Festival.

In addition to showcasing student artwork and performances, Montrose welcomed internationally-renowned Bard, Sarah de Nordwell from London, UK who performed her original poetry at the Festival after visiting classes and hosting workshops for students during the week.

“International Week offered a wonderful opportunity to promote school unity and global awareness by celebrating our family traditions,” said organizer and Latin teacher Karen Demerjian. “We enjoyed learning more about the rich cultural diversity of our Montrose students and their families and engaging students in the study and appreciation of different cultures.”
