Montrose School, an independent college preparatory day school with a Catholic tradition for girls in grades 6-12, is pleased to announce that three seniors have been named National Merit Semifinalists. Brigid Bane ’16 of Walpole, Emma Frank ’16 of Bellingham, and Abigail Gillis ’16 of Natick are among just 16,000 students nationwide named as Semifinalists, from a pool of more than 1.5 million students who took the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, placing them within the top 1% of students in the nation. The girls now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be awarded next spring.

In addition, three Montrose School seniors have been recognized as Commended Students in the National Merit competition. Molly Cahill ’16 of Kingston, MaryGrace King ’16 of Natick and Saoirse Healy ’16 of Walpole are among only 34,000 students nationwide receiving this honor, placing them within the top five percent of U.S. high school seniors nationwide. Saoirse Healy has also been named a National Hispanic Scholar. Saoirse is one of only 5,000 National Hispanic Scholars from a pool of 250,000 Hispanic or Latino students nationwide who took the 2014 PSAT/NMSQT.
